Construction and demolition disposal facilities generally calculate charges using one of two methods:

• Weight-based pricing, usually charged by the ton

• Flat-rate pricing based on the load, trailer or container size

The final cost can also depend on:

• Type of material

• Trailer or container size

• Weight and density

• Whether the load is level or heaped

• Whether materials have been compacted

• Whether the load contains mixed or prohibited material

• The amount of sorting required

ORR plans to begin with straightforward flat-rate pricing for common contractor loads. This will allow customers to estimate their disposal cost before leaving the jobsite.

Pickup-Bed C&D Load

Starting at $55

Designed for standard, level pickup-bed loads of approved construction debris.

Trailer Up to 8 Cubic Yards

This category covers smaller trailers carrying standard, level loads of approved C&D material.

Dump Trailer From 9–12 Cubic Yards

This category is intended for common contractor dump trailers with standard, level loads.

20-Yard Dumpster

Pricing applies to a standard load of approved construction and demolition material.

30-Yard Dumpster

Pricing applies to a standard load of approved C&D material that has not been excessively heaped or compacted.

How Much Does It Cost to Dump Roofing Shingles?

Roofing contractors commonly estimate tear-offs using roofing squares. One roofing square represents approximately 100 square feet of roof surface.

Because roofers already use squares to estimate materials, labor and tear-off work, ORR’s planned roofing price is based on the same measurement.

Asphalt Roofing Tear-Offs

$7 per square, per removed layer

$55 minimum charge

For example, a 21-square roof with one removed layer would cost approximately:

21 squares × $7 = $147

A 21-square roof with two removed layers would be calculated as:

21 squares × 2 layers × $7 = $294

Normal roofing tear-off material may include asphalt shingles, felt, nails and a minor amount of ordinary roofing debris.

Excessive decking, guttering, insulation, household garbage or unrelated mixed debris may result in an additional charge or require the load to be classified differently.

When Could a Load Cost More?

ORR’s published prices assume standard, level loads of approved material.

Additional charges may apply to loads that are:

• Heaped above the trailer or container walls

• Mechanically compacted

• Unusually heavy or dense

• Mixed with significant amounts of unrelated debris

• Contaminated with non-accepted material

• Misidentified before unloading

• Difficult to sort or manage safely

Customers should never unload questionable material before speaking with ORR.

What Construction Debris Will ORR Accept?

ORR is being developed to receive approved nonhazardous contractor materials, including:

• Construction and demolition debris

• Asphalt roofing tear-offs

• Approved lumber and clean wood

• Concrete

• Brick

• Asphalt

• Rock

• Approved clean fill

• Trees, brush, logs and land-clearing debris

Different materials will be directed into separate unloading lanes. Separating materials helps keep the property organized and creates more opportunities for responsible recovery and reuse when viable processing options and end markets are available.

Material acceptance may depend on its condition, composition and applicable operating requirements.

What Materials Will ORR Not Accept?

ORR will not operate as a municipal solid-waste landfill.

Prohibited materials include:

• Household garbage

• Municipal solid waste

• Hazardous waste

• Liquids

• Asbestos-containing material

• Medical waste

• Odor-causing material

• Unidentified chemicals

• Other prohibited or unapproved material

Customers should contact ORR before bringing any questionable load.

The Tipping Fee Is Only Part of Your Disposal Cost

Contractors should consider the complete cost of making a disposal run.

That cost can include:

• Tipping fees

• Fuel

• Employee drive time

• Time spent waiting to unload

• Lost production time

• Truck and trailer maintenance

• Damage caused by rough or difficult access
